SWC - Designer Profile

SWC will be talking to different designers and having them submit a small write-up in their own words, telling about themselves and what started their love for Swedish Weave. This month SWC would like to introduce Designer Crystal Hastings owner of "Crystal Weave". Crystal Weave sells patterns and pillow kits, along the right side of the page you will see a small collection of designs on Pillows and Afghans. In Crystal's own words here is what she had to say about Crystal Weave, How she got started and where she will be taking us in the future! -SWC Crystal Weave About a year ago a neighbor built a beautiful log home and invited us over so we could get acquainted. Her home was decorated in a country style. She had quilts and the most beautiful afghans I had ever seen. Ann Nunn took the time to teach me how to make a Swedish Weaving afghan and I have not been without a project since. A couple of months later while on a business trip, I was sitting in the airport weaving while waiting for my plane. A woman sitting near by saw me and asked what I was doing. Her flight was called and I only had time to get her name and address. I promised to send her instructions to teach her how to make an afghan. It was surprising to discover how exciting it was to teach someone else to do something I was so passionate about. That's when I decided to do whatever I could to revive Swedish Weaving. With Crystal Weave I have tried to design patterns in a new more modern design. The patterns at the time I began were so beautiful I felt that we needed to go in a different direction. Melody Ann is a good example of the direction we are moving. I see many new designs in the future of Crystal Weave. We are just now beginning to experiment with new fabrics for Swedish Weaving. We can't believe the wonderful fabrics that are available for this craft and plan to publish a book soon to further introduce the new fabrics and patterns to crafters.
